etsen (etching)

Een droog naald ets van de cursus etsen. Na 5 lessen zijn cursisten in staat zelfstandig een ets te maken. Natuurlijk is meer oefening nodig om de techniek te verfijnen. Vandaar dat na 5 lessen de deelnemers worden uitgenodigd om te werken op zaterdagmiddag voor aanwijzingen en tips. Een ets is een grafische diepdruktechniek die een karaktervol resultaat geeft. Het is te vergelijken met een pentekening, echter het is warmer van toon. Bovendien is een ets natuurlijk leverbaar in een beperkte oplage. Iedere ets wordt genummerd en gesigneerd.  

This is an etching that was made this week in our etching class by one of the participants.  It was made on perspex using the dry point technique.  I love its elegance and simplicity... not bad as a first attempt of the technique!!

some recent knitting projects

I've got the knitting bug at the moment! The dress took AGES but is lovely and warm!!! A project that kept me company on my train trip back to the UK... The top photo shows (from top left clockwise): a shawl from chunky 'mushroom' wool, hairband/earwarmer made with organic merino and alpaca blend, felted alpaca slippers, and a nice warm scarf. Check out Garnstudio for free patterns.
