Kunstroute Tholen (art trail) 2012

Today atelier28 celebrates her 9th birthday which means is't the 10th year that we've participated in the art trail in Tholen. Tholen is at her best during this time and the whole town is full with music, art and merriment.
Jan de Viet played at the opening on his harpsichord which Francesco decorated...
...and the art centre was filled with work, large and small...

...with a table displaying work from the watercolour and painting classes

Plus a selection of etchings from the etching workshops. We had a lovely, if not exhausting, couple of days!

Grandma's kitchen: new etching

This isn't exactly how my Grandma's kitchen looked, but she did have all the gadgets to make delicious cakes. I can't make stewed apples like she did...though I do have a decent collection of spices and herbs to use like an alchemist. This new little etching reminded me of my Grandma...

British birds

I just received this really gorgeous journal through the post from Dorothy Jane. Being a British bird myself I fell in love with it at once.
It's full of secret hiding places for notes and thoughts and my favourite bit are the vintage bird images...oh and the library cards.

camping: new painting

Summer holidays and camping are just round the corner as spring promises warmer and sunnier days. I'd love to go camping in one of these caravans! How cool would that be! This is this weeks creation, oil on canvas 18 x 13 cm.

light as a feather: new etching

A brand new etching! A delicate feather that has just danced through the air, fluttering from left to right....just like that white feather in Forest Gump. Already listed in my etsy shop...

oranges and lemons....and onions: new paintings

'"Oranges and lemons," say the bells of St Clements...' (from an English nursery rhyme and game mentioning the churches in London) Francesco's been working on these for the last week or so. He arranges a glass and some fruit, or veg, to make a study of the way the light falls. All are acrylic on canvas 18 x 24 cm.

keeping my head above water! new paintings

I love swimming and the feeling of gliding though the water. I used to swim long distance and even did synchronised swimming for a few years, so immersing myself in these paintings the last few days and using all those great colours has been very enjoyable! (oil on canvas 20 x 20 cm)

sea, sun and sand: new exhibition in Renesse.

The wind has turned and the cool air has returned, but it was still a lovely sunny day for a cycle ride through the dunes and woods, so we popped by Zeeuwart in Renesse, Zeeland, to check out my latest exhibition. The gallery is beautifully and spaciously arranged with the gallery owner Veronie's own bronze sculptures complimenting the paintings. The exhibition is open until the end of the month. Opening times and directions can be seen here.
